USA advances to Gold Cup semi-finals.
The United States men's soccer team advanced to the semi-finals of the Gold Cup by defeating Jamaica 2-0 this afternoon. Despite Landon Donovan not starting after being at his sister's wedding yesterday and starter Jose Altidore getting hurt and having to be subbed out early in the game the USA controlled play for most of the game. It was big for the obvious reason of having to win to stay alive in the tournament but it also showed the team than it has been in years. Agudelo, Lichaj and Bedoya are three of the younger players who really stepped up and showed that they will be major players for the USA going forward. If Bradley can continue to use his veterans as needed to win the games while developing younger players the future looks bright. This was the best the USA has looked recently and with Mexico having shown a few weaknesses in its come from behind win yesterday the Gold Cup is back to what people predicted before the tournament, the two big dogs of CONCACAF headed on a collision course in the final.
